A water-treatment upgrade can be complete while other network work continues. At Lee Road, official records describe an original plant upgrade, then later treatment additions and work on old mains. Keep the named asset and reported stage with each date.
Project completion does not mean that every pipe has been replaced or a later report of discolouration has been resolved.
Identify which project the page describes
Uisce Éireann’s Lee Road project page marks the original €40 million upgrade as complete. That is evidence about the named treatment-plant project. Keep it separate from later changes at the same works and from improvements elsewhere in Cork’s distribution network.
An older start-of-works notice described a signed contract and expected works to take about two years. It anticipates completion. Its displayed text does not establish a publication date, so counting forward from an assumed date would manufacture an operating date.
Find evidence that the plant entered service
Cork City Council’s two-year development-plan progress report, page 125, records the new Lee Road plant as commissioned in August 2022. That is more specific than a forecast duration or a photograph of construction.
The report covers several projects with different stages, including completed, ongoing and proposed work. Read the entry for the asset you mean; another pipeline’s dates are not the plant’s commissioning dates.
For your own notes, record the source, the named works, the stage and the date the event happened. Keep the date you read the page separately. Commissioning in August 2022 remains a historical event when the record is opened in 2026.

Track later additions separately
Uisce Éireann’s dated discolouration updates show how subsequent work developed. Its 14 February 2025 update described the manganese reduction step as installed and operational, while the conditioning system was still due for completion in mid 2025.
The 26 September 2025 entry says a manganese reduction system had been commissioned in December 2024 and an alkalinity dosing system was introduced in June 2025. Those dates concern additional processes, not a second claim that the whole original plant first entered service then.
The separate work-underway explanation still contains wording that puts conditioning completion in mid 2025. Read that beside the dated later update rather than treating the older future tense as today’s status. The page also describes flushing, increased sampling and replacement of old water mains, which have their own scope.

Use a timeline for history, local advice for today
The 2025 entries establish what the utility reported at those dates. They are not fresh operating logs or a current result from the tap in your accommodation. A new treatment stage and continuing network work can both belong in the same account without one cancelling the other.
For a present concern, Uisce Éireann’s Cork discolouration page advises customers not to drink discoloured water and provides a reporting route. Follow the applicable utility advice rather than deciding a symptom is harmless because a capital project is marked complete.
