Start a Frankfurt water report with its area name and reporting information. A document for part of the public supply and a result from one household tap answer different questions, even when both were produced by a water laboratory. Match those details to the property before using the results.
Read the report’s geography and dates
Mainova asks for a Frankfurt postcode, street and house number in its water-hardness lookup. Start there, or ask the supplier which report applies to the property. No address was entered for this article. A result offered for one location should not be copied to another merely because both addresses are in Frankfurt. Mainova’s lookup and quality guidance.
The five-page Hessenwasser report available at Mainova’s ER.pdf address names Frankfurt am Main, Nieder-Erlenbach (ER). Its pages are marked Stand: 2025 and describe results with ranges. The report does not identify a tested tap in your accommodation or give the individual sampling dates. Read the original report.
Use it as a named-area example, not as the complete set of measurements for Frankfurt. The 2025 label records the document’s stated status; it is not evidence of a sample taken during your visit in October 2026. If you need the measurement interval or collection sites behind a range, ask for that information rather than supplying a date the document leaves unstated.

Ask what the tap sample actually represents
The report separates a group of chemical parameters whose concentrations can increase in the distribution network, including building installations. Its classification explains why the journey through pipes matters; it does not say a particular home has a problem. The report’s chemical-parameter sections.
Mainova describes its delivery-quality assurance as extending to the house connection. Its published quality guidance. That boundary leaves a separate question about the installation beyond it. A supply-area range cannot supply missing information about the fittings or use of an individual building.
For a property report, look for the actual collection point, date, parameters tested and sampling method. Ask whether the sample was taken before or after running the tap and whether it was cold or hot water. These are questions to put to the laboratory or person responsible for the building, not instructions for improvising a sample that will answer every concern.

Find the evidence suited to the question
Hessenwasser’s laboratory describes taking samples at different points in the process chain. It also offers sampling, analytical services and advice on drinking-water installations. The laboratory’s service information. A sample’s location is therefore part of its meaning. Ask for a report that addresses the concern, rather than treating every laboratory number as interchangeable.
Frankfurt’s health department says it continually oversees the drinking water and the technical facilities used for abstraction, treatment and distribution. Its water-quality page links to the list of drinking-water laboratories approved in Hessen. The city’s drinking-water information.
Keep the original area report and any property report together, with their dates and methods visible. Our Frankfurt visitor guide supplies general context. If you are comparing those reports with a handheld device reading, what a TDS meter can and cannot tell you explains that separate kind of measurement.
