Visiting Berlin's Reichstag dome is free, but you must register. Start with the Bundestag's official registration service, then wait for a confirmed visit before planning your day around it. A request alone is not a booking, as the booking portal explains.
The Bundestag lists the dome as closed from 19 to 30 October 2026 for cleaning and maintenance. You can still visit the roof terrace during that closure, subject to a confirmed booking; that does not include access inside the glass dome. Check the published closure dates before choosing a visit.
Send the request, then check both confirmations
Before starting, collect the first name, surname and date of birth of everyone in your party. Dome requests cover the current month and the following month. Read the portal's booking rules before entering your details.
After you submit your details, the system emails a link. Use that link to confirm the request; this sends your details to the Visitors' Service for an availability check. The office then contacts you with further information. The Bundestag describes this extra step in its online-registration instructions.
Once the Visitors' Service has confirmed the booking, keep the confirmation and check its visit date and time.

Bring identification and pack for security
Everyone aged 16 or over must carry a valid official photo ID, such as a passport or national identity card. For visitors aged 14 or 15, the Bundestag asks for an identification document with their name and photograph, such as a student card or passport. Check the current entry conditions for your group before travel.
Arrange any suitcase storage before you arrive. Large pieces of luggage cannot be taken into the Reichstag, and there is no storage on site. Bags, coats and other items are X-rayed, and visitors pass through metal detectors at the entrance. Leave time for screening as well as reaching the building.

If you have not booked
The Visitors' Service centre is on Platz der Republik, in front of the Reichstag building. It can issue a booking if spare places remain, but confirmation must be issued at least two hours before the visit. Walking up is therefore a chance to book an available later time, not an assurance of immediate entry. See the guidance for unbooked visitors.
Check again on the day
Parliamentary business, special events, weather or security can lead to a last-minute cancellation, even after a visit has been confirmed. The booking portal warns that staff cannot notify visitors about those last-minute changes. Recheck the official dome page before leaving for your slot, and keep another plan available if going inside the dome is the main reason for your visit.
